About the Event
Our greatest challenge in the face of runaway climate change is our existing building stock: 20% of our national carbon emissions come from our existing dwellings, and their energy efficient retrofit isn't happening fast enough. But while developers are still building largely soulless residential estates, it's important that Wlimslow and the rest of the UK expects and builds housing that's fit for our future.
What is built needs to tackle some of the largest systemic challenges we share as a nation: improving human wellbeing, developing communities, meeting net zero carbon targets fast, increasing biodiversity and building homes that last and suit our changing climate and needs.
Just before the first national lockdown, the Positive Collective came together to enter the government's Home of 2030 competition, with key drivers such as age inclusivity, energy efficiency, health & wellbeing and offsite manufacture. Positive+ House was our desirable, affordable and deliverable response to this and we were one of the 6 finalists.
Florence's talk will show how we have the solutions now to address our current crisis by presenting Positive+ House as the team's response to key challenges in the built environment.
